With determination, passion and
faith in our own abilities, nothing is unattainable. What
if I told you that forty years ago, in Paris, while receiving
all the riches of my French masters, and working on American
films shooting in France, I knew that one day I would be
exactly where I am today: in a school like the Los Angeles
Film School, giving back to your generation of filmmakers
all the benefits of my long and successful career as a director,
writer and producer. And I am not talking only about lecturing
and teaching, I am talking about mentoring. About sharing
tools and secrets of the trade. About listening to your
dreams and ambitions and guiding you through their fulfillment.
About helping you discover how to have fun on a set, liberated
through homework and craft, free of the unresolved doubts
and anxieties that do not belong to the legitimate anguish
of an artist. With determination, passion and faith in your
own abilities, nothing is unattainable. |

We envision storytelling in film
as the delicate orchestration of a highly-trained, specialized
team. During our unique 12-month program, students receive
a broad overview of all seven of the filmmaking crafts and
then focus intensively on two. For us, this specialized
craft training is achieved only in an intense, mentored
environment: you will have a camera in your hands on day
one and most of your classes will be small 8-12 student
classes where your work will be under continual and close
review with professional film mentors and peers. In order
to keep the class sizes small, we offer six different class-starts
a year, in September, November, January, March, May, and
July. |

|
a faculty
of professional filmmakers |
 |
|
One of the advantages of being
located in the heart of Hollywood is having a faculty that
is unparalleled in the world. Our faculty is staffed by
working professional filmmakers who craft many of the most
striking and original films of today - their credits range
from Chasing Amy, Magnolia, and The Blair Witch Project
to Fight Club, Jerry Maguire, and Minority Report. For us,
Hollywood is the classroom; we are committed to crafting
an active, rich and exciting atmosphere where teachers are
moving back and forth from their movie sets to our classrooms.
This is a faculty that knows how to succeed in this competitive
field, understands how the film industry works, and cares
passionately about how movies are made today. |

|
state-of-the-art
facilities |
 |
|
The motion picture industry is
undergoing a historic change: the time of flatbeds, splicing
tape, and 16mm is over, pushed aside by AVID, ProTools,
and digital, high-definition cameras. The cutting-edge movie-making
toolbox we have assembled here is the envy of other film
schools and movie studios alike. We teach you the art of
filmmaking using the technology of today and tomorrow rather
than the technology of the past. |
|
|
keep
the rights to your films |
| |
|
Unlike many other film schools,
you own outright all the films and projects you make at
the Los Angeles Film School. |
| |
|
We want you to build your career,
not your debt; our intensive 12-month program costs a fraction
of that of traditional three and four year film schools.
In addition, spending one intense year in training rather
than the traditional three to four years allows you to start
working and earning as a film professional much more quickly. |
