Historic RCA Headquarters Building to House
the 50,000 Sq. Ft. Facility Scheduled to Open September
8

Academy Award Winning Director,
Oliver Stone, joins The Los Angeles Film School faculty
to announce the arrival of its facility in Hollywood, Ca.,
scheduled to open its doors on September 8, 1999. The school's
home is located in the historic RCA headquarters building
on Sunset Blvd., which has heard the musical talents of
Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Eartha Kitt, The Guess
Who, Jefferson Airplane, Neil Sedaka and Perry Como, as
well as the scoring of Henry Mancini's, The Pink Panther.
Three stuntmen plunged a daring 150 ft. from the top of
the building at 6363 Sunset Blvd. kicking-off the announcement.
World-renowned stuntman Ken Bates oversaw stunt coordination.
VIP's in attendance included: Academy Award winning director,
producer and writer, Oliver Stone; independent
filmmaker and LA Film School's President, Carolyn Pfeiffer;
founder, Bud Malette; founder, former president of Universal
Pictures and current President of the Producers Guild
of America, Thom Mount; Dean, Amedeo D'Adamo, among others.
Advisory Board to the film school includes such Industry
All-Stars as: Dede Allen, Jackie Goldberg, Amy
Heckerling, Janusz Kaminski, Thom Mount, Phillip Noyce,
Alan Rudolph, Milena Canonero and Richard Sylbert.
Still under construction, the 50,000 sq. ft. facility
includes a 340-seat
state-of-the-art, THX/Dolby Digital, stadium-style theater
equipped for both 35 mm and 16 mm films. A
professional sound recording and mixing facility also
exists in the heart of the campus. Additionally, there
are over a dozen fully equipped editing suites and a variety
of classrooms, seminar rooms and post production
space for students to work on projects.
The Los Angeles Film School offers an intensive one-year
professional
training program in motion pictures, television and new
media where students receive hands-on training with the
most up-to-date equipment available. The emphasis of the
curriculum is on the craft and the future of moviemaking.
Courses offered include cinematography, editing, production
design, sound recording and mixing, special effects, marketing/distribution,
producing, digital filmmaking and more. Students will
be required to make four films with an opportunity to
make more.
