"I learn best by doing.
The administration and faculty also believe in a 'tactile'/hands-on
approach...so much in fact, at times it is difficult to
distinguish the 'student world' from the 'professional world'
while working on projects here at the school. I'm starting
to work in the industry now and I almost always prefer to
work with fellow alumni. There is no doubt in my mind that
in a few years time there will be several prominent production
companies staffed with LAFS alumni. We know what we are
doing. |

"As a veteran of the workforce,
the Los Angeles Film School afforded me the opportunity
to quickly apply the skills I already had attained in the
corporate world to those I needed to acquire in the motion
picture industry. With state-of-the-art equipment and facilities
coupled with instruction from some of the most prolific
and talented names in the business, I gained more knowledge
and on-set experience than I could have during twelve months
in any other film program or on actual film productions.
After producing numerous projects during my tenure at the
school, I have since moved on to produce two features films,
manage a production company, head up development for a development
company, and serve as a producing instructor at an esteemed
Film School. None of this would have been possible without
the education I received at the Los Angeles Film School."

The L.A. Film School was
a huge help during our production. We were able to use the
school's 35mm Arri BL Evolution camera (and lots of grip
equipment) to shoot our film, and we shot a lot of the interior
scenes on the school's soundstage. We even managed to bring
our camel on the soundstage to shoot our "camel shack"
scene, much to the amusement of students, and eventually
also to the faculty at the school.
Even when we were out in the desert the school helped in
a big way: our Cinematography teacher actually came out
to the desert to give us advice during the shoot.
We would recommend the L.A. Film School to anyone who wants
to get real hands-on experience in filmmaking. Lots of schools
sit you down in a classroom and tell you how to make films,
but the L.A. Film School really teaches students practical
knowledge in a hands-on environment while you are actually
making films. |

Totally exceded my expectations,
not just learning about shooting, but learning all trades
of filmmaking. |
